Why doesn't Robert Plant want to do the Zep reunion? ?

Why is Robet Plant backing out of the Les Zeppelin reunion tour with Jason Bonham on the drums. Apparently Zep is looking for a different lead singer. They can't do a reunion with out Plant. What is his problem?

He probably wants to look to the future rather than the past. Reunions aren't very creative on the whole - just a way of pulling in the cash. He has been enjoying his collaboration with Alison Krauss I think.

There are several reasons. First of all, these guys are getting old. Touring might not be too bad on Jimmy Page or John Paul Jones as it would Robert Plant because they would be standing in place much of the concert. If you have ever seen footage of a Led Zeppelin concert, Plant is very active and mobile. Him just standing there would really take something out of the show. Plant is also working on solo projects that would interfere with a tour of any magnitude. Jason Bonham is great, but he isn't his father. With the possible exception of the most recent attempt, any attempt at a reunion concert has been below the band's very high standards and Plant doesn't want to go on a sub-par tour. Besides, nothing says that he can't change his mind on the whole deal.

The truth is, Robert might want to in a couple years. But by then the other guys probably won't want to do it anymore. What Robert's problem is, he has just had so much success as a solo artist and with Allison Kraus, he feels he's doing great on his own. And doing Led Zeppelin would be like going back and living in the past. Basically he thinks he's too good to go back to his old band. Sucks for his fans, but I see his point. I bought his last 2 solo albums and they were great.

  • The tour will be very long and exhausting because Plant is very involved in the show... he's getting older and he might just want to not do it... I agree.. It not Zeppelin if there is no Robert Plant which is why I don't think they should tour without him...

HOWEVER: If there is ONE thing that drives me absolutely insane... its people who get frustrated at other people who have done great things and made great things and when they make a decision that doesn't benefit the fans and is for themselves... fans get upset... you have absolutely no right to ask what Plant's problem is... he has no problem... the problem lies with you...

Before he died, Robert Plant promised John Bonham he would never reform Led Zep if he did die. When he did the record with Jimmy Page, the ghost of John Bonham visited Robert Plant and promised to choke him in his sleep if he didn't keep his promise.
