What is a good pistol or revolver for conceal carry?
I'm very new to the gun world. I just recently bought a 20 gauge and even more recently bought a Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm. I am looking for something to carry. I am registered for a CCW course in February. I am 6'3" and weigh 260 pounds. I want something I can fit my hands on but still be small enough to be completely concealable. I don't want anything smaller than a .380 and I'd like it to have a manual safety. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Since you specified .380 as smallest cal here is my recommendation.

I was taught to shoot handguns by a Master Chief Gunner's Mate in the US Coast Guard. Master Chief Peterson believed in absolute control of shot placement. He did not advocate the large calibers of handguns instead he required that we shoot nothing less than 298 of 300 possible on an off day. I carry for CCW two Walther PPK/S .32 ACPs and can hit the kill zone with 50 rounds out of 50 on the clear the house combat range.

Of those two, the Walther would be the better choice. The Model 60 is not that great for concealed carry because it has an exposed hammer and a sight that can hang up on clothing. Smith does actually make revolvers for concealed carry that have 2" barrels, smooth sights, and hammer shrouds that are much better for that purpose. There are also any number of semi-auto handguns that fit the bill, ranging from .32s to .45s. I used to have a Colt .45 Officer's model that was a very nice handgun for concealed carry.

My favorite type of handgun for concealed carry is a semi-auto. It is flat compared to a revolver and more easily concealed. In addition, it will hold more rounds than a revolver. However, if you choose to carry a semi-auto handgun, you will need to be trained in how to handle misfires and jams. Any semi-auto is more prone to these problems than a revolver. As for my favorite caliber, it is without a doubt the .45 acp. The .45 has incredible stopping power but is not as prone to over penetration as some of the other popular cartridges such as the .357 mag, .40, and the 9mm. I load my .45 with Glazer cartridges. They have a frangible bullet that is much less prone to ricochet and when it hits soft tissue, it fragments causing massive damage.
When I must go into that dark night alone, and I have my Kimber .45 acp with the Glazer cartridges tucked discretely in its IWB holster, I feel quite adequately armed and not so quite alone.

You already have it. That's one of the best semi-autos, it holds SEVENTEEN shots, and is made by one of the most reputed companies around.
Beretta PX4, why buy something else when you have what you want?

your probably not gonna like it, but a derringer is good for big hands because they usually don't have a trigger guard, they have two safeties, a small turning one and halfcock of the hammer. they come in pretty big calibers, but personally I would get it in 357magnum/38 special or 410/45LC. better ammo choices and fairly small in my opinion.

You just need something that you are comfortable with and will go out and practice with, other wise it is worthless!!

well i suggest the hp45, its as big as a truck and dependable, you can conceal it and absolutely no one will give you any trouble....

I love my glock 27, but if I didn't have it, I would consider their sub compact "slim line" .45
