What is the purpose rack structure on the front of the Stinger Missile tube?
It seems like the most recognisable feature on the stinger tube, what is it's purpose?

probably a guidance antennae, cause a radar unit would be too heavy. the rack most likely serves as the locate so the missile would have tone if the missile couldn't pick up on a heat signature
Source(s): soviet bulit SA-7/14. the stingers counter part would have the operator wear a head mounted radar array to get a tone on a aircraft.
