Eternal life is found only through one and His name is Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

This is eternal life to know You the Only True God and Jesus whom You have sent. The pharisees rejected Jesus.

He is telling them that even though the scriptures are "screaming" and referring to Jesus they refuse to as if they don't want to come to the eternal life. They refuse to accept what they have been preaching for thousands of years.
