There is also Blue Eyes by Elton John, but I'd have to go with the Who. This is one of my very favorite songs, not alone for the musical genius, but the lyrics, which are just fabulous and provocative and evocative and beyond cool.

Plus, there's no beating Roger Daltrey's rendition, or his work with the microphone.

  • I pick Suite to Judy Blue Eyes by CSN.

    Then the Who

    Then VU

    Then Willie

    Even though I love Willie.

I like 'Blue eyes crying in the rain', but I prefer the original by Hank Williams, but Willie's ain't bad.

Reason: Hank's version is complete and Willie left a verse out.

Behind Blue Eyes. It's one of my favorite songs. Daltrey's delivery is emotional, and the joking in concert about this song (how Keith isn't aloud to play on it, as he has "beautiful brown eyes"). Listeners can also relate to it easily, as pretty much everyone has felt misunderstood at some point or another.

I love love love The Who. They are extremely important in music history. That song = win.

The Who FTW! I can identify with the lyrics, and I think the chord progression and instrumental arrangement are superior.
