Internet Explorer 7 broke my computer.?

I don't know much about computers. I downloaded Internet Explorer 7, because my computer told me to. Now everything is messed up. Half the time I start my computer, it freezes while loading up programs upon start. EVERY time I double click Internet Explorer, the computer freezes. Is there any way I can fix this? I can't open up internet explorer to download a different version. Please help!

Okay you could always boot from an os (xp) cd, to get ie6 or 7 (7 if you have vista cd)

    Or use system restore

It would be best to just delete your explorer and try to install it back again but make sure its from Microsoft

Or you could download Mozilla firefox setup burn it to a disc and put it on your computer

    Firefox is better anyway

It crashed, go here for a fix (IE 7 Solutions) links below! Do not do a "system restore". It's not that critical & a restore will prevent u from accessing some of your software and mess up your Microsoft Office causing u to have to reinstall some programs. I can't open my IE 7 this morn & wondering if MS is deliberately doing this to force us into taking IE 8 >;( This is where turtle slow Firefox came in handy. But it's already crashed on me twice w/ certain script handling & not knowing how to open/send a message I sent to a friend at her yahoo group page. The window that came up says Firefox couldn't recognize the address, something to that effect. Regardless always keep 2 browsers.

note: seems like u should also stop certain things from starting up when pc is booted. Use only whats needed. Sounds like ur problem is coming from there. Run ur anti 'spyware' software also

This is a common problem with Microsoft in general. They want you to install their latest explorer or media player, and not all versions of Windows are compatible!

What you need is IE 6 and to stick with it. Better yet, just use Firefox but that is another issue.

To fix this, first go to link below and download IE 6, to be safe before you do next step.

Now, simply go to Programs, Settings, control panel, ad-remove programs and uninstall IE 7. Reboot.

It should revert back to IE 6, If it does not, reinstall it with the package you downloaded.

Then, when you have your IE 6 back, go to Internet Options, Advanced, and un-click the box for "automatically look for updates"

This will depend on what OS you have installed but, if you are operating with Windows XP:

Open the start bar, open Run, type in Msconfig, hit okay. In the System Configuration Utility click the startup tab. Now, take the checkmark out of every single item on this list. This will not harm your computer, it is just making sure nothing starts automatically when your computer boots up. Hit okay, restart your computer. Now you should be able to open explorer and use it to download Firefox, a flawless browser. :)

Download Firefox, Safari, Opera, or some other browser onto a disk/flash drive. Then run the set up once you're on your computer. Then you can eliminate IE 7 and download a different version (or just use Firefox; it's MUCH safer).

I downloaded Internet Explorer 7 and it gave me that dangerous annoying thing called Antivirus 2009.

The best way is to restore your system to a time before you downloaded it and don't install it again.

Go to start, then 'All Programs'.

Then go to 'Accessories' and then 'System tools'.

Click System Restore and pick a date which is before the day you installed Internet Explorer 7.

Restore your system, and if it luckily works it'll be uninstalled; so the problem will go away.

How much RAM do you have and how old is your PC? All this matters because downloading any programs that require more than what your PC can handle will send it back to the stone-age.
