Anyone else tired of the J. Dokic documentary?

Enough already, we get it! I feel sorry for her but let's get to tennis. Where was all this for the William sister's when they lost their sister? The only thing I remember was criticism about this and that. Didn't one or both of the sisters take time out because of their oldest sister's death and injuries? Didn't they eventually come back and win a gran slam each? Even if they didn't, I do not believe its fair for Dokic to be constantly praised. The sister’s tragic was hardly mentioned, what a shame.

Same with Capriati, remember when she had a drug problem? When she came back, the only thing the media could think to do was trash her instead of giving her praise as they've done for Dokic.

Dokic isn't the only player to go through changes..Geesh. They act like the girl died and came back to life.

What a cynical bunch. Obviously I am watching different broadcast because I have tennis all the time and have missed the documentary on what brought her to this point. Anyway this isn't a pissing contest to see who has had it toughest. And I don't know what planet you are on regarding the Williams tragedy. I saw it reported extensively, both nationally and internationally. Capriati made a great comeback. She wasn't trashed. I saw a lot of praise in the media. Dokic had a terrible time of it, she is an Australian citizen making a remarkable comeback in the Australian Open. That's a good story and good for her. Someone in this thread said that they would be glad when she lost. What a crappy attitude you have, mate. You shouldn't watch sport, I think you'd be happier with reality game shows. There is so much to celebrate and enjoy in life, why dissipate your energies looking for ways to make it all seem shabby or bad.

I'm sick of it. Yes, as an Australian i am proud of her, i'm proud of the effort and the progress and results that she has got this year from the Australian Open, i praise her for opening up about things concerning her father etc etc etc. But the constantly show her on the TV, show her crazy father, show her depressed as all hell and we've seen it a thousand times, we know the story we understand so just let her restart her tennis career and leave the whole crazy dad thing, depression thing etc alone. It was a big factor in her life we know, but seriously, take the heat off her! Safina has hardly been mentioned for her win against a great player apart from her name in the title "Dokic out by No3 seed Safina". Dokic deserves respect these days and she gets it but what about a little respect for the player that just beat her? Maybe Novak's heatstroke episode was a delibrate plot to try and take the spotlight off Jelena!!!! Just leave the poor kid alone for a few freakin weeks!

I'm dead proud of Dokic and i am confident i speak for the majority of Australian's when i say that.

A focus is probably because of the way in which she left Australia and the way she has come back. Her father is banned from the country after all. And really, what she has accomplished is amazing.

    I think she deserves it.

And besides, the Williams sisters probably did not want such a tragedyu broadcast in such depth.

Really, people would rather keep pain silent and personal but, every one wants to share and hear about success.

well maybe its different in america.. maybe ur media is more critical

but in australia they love to make a mountain out of a molehill.. the more 'fairytale' the story is the better ratings it will get.

they did the same with casey dellacqua last year.. completely over sensationalised her and got everyones hopes up

but having said that, more power to dokic. i think she did unbelievably well to get this far. shes made us proud

Blame it to the media, they just sensationalising Dokic's run in the Australian Open because no one's left to cheer about. Am glad her luck runs out finally tonite.

  • Thats so funny you say that - I haven't seen much about it at all and have been asking people all week what the back story was.

I think i it has been shown in the media alot its because she is representing Australia - we're not too interested in the international stories, same as they wouldn't be in ours.

Who cares about her??????? I actually hate Jelena, she is so standoffish, and is not friendly to other players or commentators. SHE'S AS COLD AS ICE. I am happy she lost, I reckon in a few months everyone will start hating her again for something she has done...

well she is a Famous tennis player and they do have a private life outside of there world of sport.

so yeah, the documentary is a bit repetitive,

but personally i don't mind if i know whats going on in there life.
