Why can't I see another avatar in Second Life?
My son has a new avatar in SL, and he can't see mine and I can't find his. I can't search to add to friends whether we are online at the same time or not. Could this be because he is a teenager, and my account is not? Thanks in advance for suggestions!

If he's on Teen SL and you're in Adult SL, then sadly, your paths with never cross until he is 18 and he gets transferred to the Adult grid. As a layer of protection for youngsters in Teen SL, search between the two grids is blocked.
There are only three ways I know of in which an Adult SL user's avatar can legally enter Teen SL.
1: As a Linden employee.
You may occasionally see people in SL with the last name 'Linden'. They perform various tasks in SL from land management and liaison to troubleshooting and grid maintenance. A very few Lindens are assigned to work in Teen SL
2: As a Mentor.
In many welcome areas you may find someone with the title 'Mentor' above their name where a group title would be. These are individuals who volunteer to help people in SL. Some specialise in helping new players find their feet in SL and others help with technical problems. AGain, a handful of carefully vetted mentors are able to go to Teen SL to help there.
3: Relay For Life Parent.
Just in the last few days, the Relay For Life 2009 (RFL09) group have asked parents with children in Teen SL who are involved in this year's Relay For Life events if they would like to be part of a team to head in to Teen SL to help them with their fund-raising campaign this year. If you yourself are reasonably new to SL, you may not be aware of RFL. It is a massive annual event in SL that raises money for the American Cancer Society. Last year - for the first time - players in Teen SL decided they wanted to get involved too. Communication between the organisers and the people on the teen grid was limited due to the stict protection offered to users of Teen SL, but what has been decided this year is that parents of teens that are involved in RFL09 may join the adult RFL09 groups and get special dispensation to visit Teen SL to help their children and friends with this year's events.
If this last option interests you, you should both join the respective RFL09 groups in teen and adult SL. I'm assuming that there will be some very detailed questions you have to answer to prove you are who you say you are and I'm guessing you will have to add age verification to your SL avatar too.
RFL08 raised over $200,000 USD for the American Cancer Society last year and we hope to improve on that vastly this year. The events run for a few months with designers offering items where proceeds go to RFL and there are also concerts and events. Doctors and specialits from the real world come into SL to give talks about cancer detection, treatment and support. Someimes, the events during RFL can be deeply emotional, but often they are a lot of fun. No part of RFL is more emotionally overwhelming that the final weekend of the season. As the final totals are being counted, we all gather over 20 or so sims and each group is given an area to build or decorate. A road winds through all of these regions and cancer survivors and their carers begin the final weekend by 'walking' the course (which can take over 2 hours). After that, the teams walk the route (and there are a LOT of teams) and then the course opens up to everyone and themed costume walks start. The sides of the road are lined with thousands of lanterns and (for a donation) each one can be dedicated to a cancer survivor, carer, or someone who lost the fight. That first walk - by survivors - is intensely emotional, especially when you know there are people missing this year, who were there last year.
RFL is a very worthwhile thing to be involved in and to do it with your son would - I think - become a cherished life moment.

It's comforting that you and your son believe in the second life, as do I ..
fear not earthly technical dificulties dear, we will all be together and see each other's avatars on the other side! I hope this is an answer good enough for Jehovah....

If the image is already on your stressful stress, bypass to inventory, report menu > upload. Browse to the itemizing the place you have stored your image and click open to verify. it is going to fee L$10. in case you do not have the money for, the choice to function would be disabled. if so you will would desire to ask a pal who does have the money for, to function the image for you and flow it to you.
