How difficult is it to move from england to ireland?

We're considering moving back to ireland, where my husband is from, with our two children (I'm english). How difficult is it to buy a house in ireland with regards to fees and red tape etc? Also, as I'm not an Irish citizen, would this affect my ability to work etc?

there is no difficulty whatsoever in moving but there are two things you should be aware off .Buying a house will be no problem house prices are tumbling and there are plenty on the market .The downside is that jobs are nearly impossible to get with the dole queues lenghting all the time and these queues contain people from every job level so make plenty of inquiries before making a decision

The house values are dropping at the moment, not many people are buying right now cos theyre waiting to see just how much they will fall. So there is a lot available for you to choose from...im not sure of the process once you do decide to buy, but here is a link which may help:

As for working over here, you being English doesnt matter - English people can work in Ireland and vice versa-you dont need a work permit but you will need to go to the tax office and apply for a rsi number.

The economy isnt great at the moment tho, lot of people losing their jobs so be aware that finding work wont be as easy as it used to be here.

There is no difficulty moving or working if you are both EU citizens. It's as easy as moving to Scotland or Wales. All you have to do is register on arrival for an RSI number, which will allow you to work and also register the kids in a nearby school.

Houses for rental and purchase are plentiful but there is a scarcity of jobs in many professions.

Dont move , unless you dont mind been ripped off ,prices to high? 5000 job losses every week. Yes you have every right to live and work here, but will be very hard to find one.thousands of houses to buy but are falling in price every day.

Do you speak to your husband at all?? He should be fully up to speed as to what is required. There is no difference in living in Ireland as there is in England.
