how do i repair a dell notebook with a damaged pci slot? ?
i have a dell inspiron 1000. the wireless pci slot is damaged and has been verified by some tech. that I spent hours on the phone with while deciphering the most broken english possible. anyways is it possible to replace the hardware inside for the pci slot? can anyone point me in the direction of a how to manual? p.s. the pci card is fine it is only the port itself.

There is a better way to do that:
Get an external WiFi antenna from Wal-mart or similar stores, and attach it through USB, make sure the WiFi antenna you will buy matches your router's signal such as A, B, G, or N.

This would involve soldering and knowledge of how to make the right connections on circuit boards...
You might want to have a tech do the repair. However, the cost might be higher than just buying a new laptop...which is what laptop makers want you to do.
