Could you have a birthday party at McDonald's without buying the party package?

My daughters 6th birthday is coming up & I don't want to have the party at my house (many reasons) but I can't really afford to buy the birthday package, which costs $80. If I just invite everyone to meet me there & buy them all happy meals & let them play in the play place it would only cost me $30. Would you be embarrassed to do that?? Thanks!!

Update:

How would you make sure you have enough tables for like 8-10 kids plus any parents that might stay? Just show up 1/2 hour early and save the tables? Can you even do that?

Update 2:

The party is in February...too cold for park. She doesn't need all the decorations & I'm making the cake or cup cakes. Besides I don't have $80 to spend on the package deal.

I would totally do that! As long as you don't take any food e.g. a birthday cake with you, there is no problem. You're buying their Happy Meals, so what's the problem? Maybe you could buy her a McDonalds icecream or something and take a candle to put in it if she wants everyone to sing to her...just an idea.

Yes, your daughter won't get the usual balloons and whatever you get for the $80, but will she really care or even notice...no!

    Mcdonalds Party Package

I wouldn't be embarrassed. Sounds like a good idea. If you pick a less crowded time it might be easier but I think it could still work. You could go there for a breakfast even with your daughter and bring a newspaper or friend or relative or two and kind of spread out and leave coats on the chairs and newspapers on the tables. Also you will have your coffee cup or food there too.

You could probably get away with bringing a box of cupcakes to pass out if you want or even some goodie bags or hats. You could also offer a cone, a sundae or a pie for dessert if you wanted to. I've never seen anyone post anything about not bringing food into a McDonald's. Since the kids will be running around a lot a parent could just stand, sit somewhere else, or sit in a kid's seat for awhile.

McDonalds get busy but people usually don't linger long so as long as you have a place for the kids you should be fine.

our mcdonalds doesnt do partys anymore and they actually suggest that! I have had 2 parties there. I just take a cake and ice cream and buy all the kids happy meals. It comes out really inexpensive. The hardest part is keeping everyones happy meals straight. I made a list and just handed it to the cashier with what each child wanted. Then the only problem was the girl/boy toys were mixed up!

We scheduled the party from 11:00-1. I got there around 10 am and got enough tables for the kids. I put a party hat at each seat and noon gave us any trouble. I figured the adults could stand or sit in the kids seat when the kids were playing.

Don't let her go. If there's one thing you don't want it's for her to associate McDonalds (crap food) with fun, friendship and happyiness. Seriously it doesn't seem like that big a deal but it is subtle suggestions. Why do you think they came up with the idea of having parties there? If it's her first time being there I wouldn't let her go. Maybe you can take her before the party just so that her first experience of it isn't the party. Either that or don't let her go at all, it's not as if she's missing much. Besides the food, which I don't care to put down, it's up to the individual. There isn't much to do at those parties. But like I said if she does happen to have a good time...

Show up early and save the seats with the help of some friends and you will have to order coffees at least. Also you will not be able to save them during normal meal times like breakfast lunch or dinner too

Well you save $50 by not buying the birthday package, yet you get the same food and ability to play in the play area. Sounds fine to me!

depending on what day.. you are having it..????

    Sat are the worse..

U will need 2 or 3 other moms to help you..

one to save the tables.. one to order the food.. something simple burger and a drink..

one to keep a eye on the kids at all times... you are the hostess and responsibility..

    take your own cake..

send out invitations.. or they will come eat w/ no GIFT..

    invite.. 10 kids.. 10 drinks and 10 hamburgers = 20.00 + the cake

    good luck.. and happy birthday..

no you can't save all those table for guess if someone comes to a table and tries to sit down and you say ur saving it for someone that's not even there yet they will get mad and if you do it enough times you will be asked to leave. and no i wouldn't be embarrassed to do that because nobody would know it's a party
