Has anyone switched up their own name, or husbands name to make their baby's name?

For instance, for baby number two, hubby loves the name Seven. But I thought it would be neat to spell it Sevin, since my hubbys name is Svein. Just a switchup :) Has anyone else done this or come up with names like that?

Update:

Yea, Seinfeld is where he got it from, go figure. Its not a horrible name, I like it. And here in Norway Seven isn't even a number, its Syv :P It won't be pronounced in the American way either, so no one is going to make fun of it. And hey, its better than Odd and all the other horrendous Norwegian names :P

my own name is an mix up of my parents names: first half from my dad, other from my mom.

I think Seven/Sevin is a cool name. Go for Sevin-it's nice for the kid to have such a tangible connection with his father,

I think Sevin's a cute name. My mom added letters to my name because my cousin wanted me to be named after him.

Always remember (in light of the comment that your kid will get picked on ) that the name doesn't make the person, rather the person makes the name.

Best wishes on baby no. 2!!

Don't change it to Sevin, because that doesn't look so nice, he will always be telling people how to spell his name - that could become annoying after a while. Famous rapper André 3000 and singer Erykah Badu also named their son Seven. I think it sounds really cool. :-)

When I was with an ex partner we were going to mix our two names up to make a name.

Well, we didn't actually do it on purpose at first but I said the name, liked the sound and realised it was a mix.

My name is Kt and his is Callum, and the name was Caelum for a baby boy (said Kay-lum)

No but I think it's unique. I'm naming my baby Jysaiah. I always loved the name Isaiah but since his father wanted something wit a J I just add the Jy in so we both win!

    Hi,

I have not done this but I know when my friend Amy was pregnant, she liked the name Scarlett but her boyfriend, Phil, was not keen so she switched the letters of her name and came up with ..

MYA. It suits her daughter beautifully!

I know a couple named Joe and Ina. They named their daughter Jolina.

  • I love it. Very cute. My husband and I were thinking Jessy when when I was pregnant. But, I thought it was to boyish. But we got it from a mix of our names. Mine is Cassy and his is Jeff. My sister named her son Alex James (A.J.) from my dads name James Alex.

That takes me back to the seinfeld eppisode where George is talking about the name Seven....it's a joke!!!!! Please don't do that to your child! Think of the teasing he'll get when he's older
