Looking for a beach (ocean) vacation to take my kids on, ages 16 & 20, north Atlantic.?
We'll have to drive from Rochester NY to Philly to pick up my son. I'm thinking about whatever's closest to Philly... possibly Rehoboth area in Delaware. But what about New Jersey?
Looking for pretty and swimable beach, some interesting nightlife but nothing that will get the kids in trouble. Each will probably bring a friend. Budget matters too.
Thanks!
It's funny I just noticed Bethany Beach... Might be just what I'm looking for. Hmm.
I was actually born in Delaware, and although we moved away when I was a baby, my parents went back to Dewey beach every year for a vacation until I was seven. I have very fond memories of it, and will be interested to see how it has changed in 35 years!

My family always stays in Bethany Beach, which I would recommend. I think Bethany has the best beach for swimming in the area. Bethany Beach is very family oriented but that didn't seem to stop me from liking the area when I was a teenager. Also if your kids get bored there is nearby Dewey Beach and Ocean City which caters more to the college crowds.
Rehoboth beach is a gay-friendly area with a lot of upscale shopping, but they still have most of the usual beach boardwalk stuff, i.e. ice cream, fries, etc and the beach is nice, especially for walking along in the evening.
Cape May and Ocean City, NJ are fine but I will always prefer Delaware.
