If I were you, I would install XP for now and wait for Windows 7. Vista is like Windows ME, once 7 comes out you will be in the lost with Vista.

Difference between Windows : Xp, Vista and 7 Hey buddy from my side, don't go for Xp and Vista because i think that they doesn't have much facility in comparing with windows 7. So, i prefer you to chose only Windows 7. For more information just go to the source, i have given below:-

Hi, first off, how did you put vista onto a cd??

vista looks much better than xp but as they say "dont judge a book by its cover" vista requires at least 2 gigs , and the high end cpu .. just for the OS.. if I were you i would install xp instead cuz it's much more easy to run .. and it has more compatibility if you wanna run the old school softwares as well

this will depend very much on your system spec if its a powerful gamming machine or something with a quadcore processor and 2gb+ of RAM then use vista. If not then go with XP.

Or and i do this myself. Install XP on a partition of lets say for example you have a 250GB hard drive. Put XP onto a 100GB partion. Now once XP has been installed on this partion which should be 102400 bits when your installing XP Now on the rest of the Hard drive install Vista. This way you have the best of both worlds. This is known as dual booting your system. When you turn your machine on it will ask you if you wish to use vista or a older version of XP? you choose which one you want to use and away you go.

You'll have to have quite a bit of memory for Vista, and I'd upgrade your computer before installing Vista. (By the way... Vista has a lot of issues that haven't been resolved.) I prefer XP, it's much more stable.

  • XP is way more stable than Vista. I'm an IT professional and every company that I know will not even allow Vista to be used becasue of the problems with it. XP is in very high demand now and computer companies are charging a premium for it.

Xp without a doubt. I wouldnt bother with vista as there is so many compatability issues. When i was on holiday at a campsite recently there was lots of people with vista that i had to show how to use it as they found it really confusing. So i would only use it if your an absolute pro.

also consider all the other programmes that you have on your system already or those that your likely to download will they work together?

Unfortunately i was stuck with this on my new pc and its caused a load of problems.

I have now changed back to xp.

I hope that helps if you need anymore assistance feel free to contact me.

It depends on what you plan to do with the computer. XP has a lot more driver and software support. It also has less overhead. I have both installed and I still prefer XP.

It would depend on your system spec's. If your system has a minimum of a dual core processor, 2gig of RAM & a good video card then go with Vista. If the spec's are lower than the aforementioned the use XP...

Does your video card support Vista? Do you have a CRAP LOAD of ram? How much memory is on your computer.

You need to upgrade your computer before installing Vista or it wont work.

I'd say XP because I like it better.
