Please, please help me. I need answers desperately and quickly?
I was hoping that someone could please help me. One of my family members, who we are all very close to is very, very sick.. He is 60 years old and smoked his entire life. Last week, he went into respiratory failure and has been on a ventilator and sedated ever since. They said that he has emphysema, pneumonia, possibly a pulmonary embolism and he definitely has MRSA. Tomorrow they are probably going to give him a tracheotomy instead of keep him on the ventilator. I know he is extremely sick but I am trying to see if anyone know whether or not he will be ok? Thank you to anyone who takes the time to answer, it means a lot to me.
I am sorry I am not looking for anyone to predict the future or play God, I am just looking for anyone who might have had an experience with this so I can try to figure out what I need to do. I would just appreciate anything from anyone who thinks they can help me, instead of saying how they don't know they aren't God, anything else would be nice.

My wife is a PT and she works with folks like this. If he's 60 and hasn't been taking care of his body, he's more like 75-80 years old. He's in a fragile state and while he'll survive this current problem with drugs and light surgery, he'll end up having a difficult time surviving the next 5-10 years.
They'll give him some things to do at home to improve his quality of life, like telling him to eat healthy and exercise more. But if he doesn't make those changes, he's going to die soon.

What he has is very serious. You may want to at least prepare yourself for the worst. Yes he may pull through it, it really depends how strong his body is and how far advances his conditions are.
Edit- Have you spoken to his doctors? They would be able to tell you more.
Our prayers are with you. I'm sorry you have to go through this.
