Trying to find a source for violets?

Not African violets, but the little sweet-smelling ones that grow in the yards of old houses. Are they seeds or bulbs? Have had no luck with search engines, and was surprised to find some people consider them undesirable.

I moved from the Bahamas to Ohio. To my surprise and pleasure one walk out in my new yard I found the violets you are speaking of and I love them. I had not seen these since I was a kid growing up in New York. I honestly do not know the seed end of these either. I also went past a ladies yard and found climbing roses I had not seen since I was a kid and approached the lady and asked If I could take some and see if I could try to root them. When you see them park your car and approach the owner and gather some up and replant them! They are all over my yard, so I think they are like Johnny Jump Ups and spread themselves.

In the UK they are prolific! A natural garden centre would have the info if not the plants themselves. I think they grow from rhizomes.
