why is there so much controversy?

I was really curious about why they would use fertility treatments if they already had 6 kids? Not to be mean, or anything, but jeez it almost seems baby greedy. If I wanted another baby but couldn't then I would be very happy that I have my 2 girls.

Because how irresponsible can you get? 6 kids is a lot for anyone but she wanted more? 1 or 8, doesn't matter. Too much is too much. There is no way she is going to be able to take care of them and I'd bet dollars to donuts she was struggling to stay above water with the 6 she already had. On the off chance she actually can afford them, how do you give that many children as much love and attention they all deserve and require? Of course the family will have a ton of help but no one is as good as Mom.

And let's not forget the doctors. Only an idiot would implant embryos in a woman in her situation.

I don't care if they have a zillion....as long as they're able to pay for them. Often parents of unusual multiples, like these, get a lot of freebies and make a career out of their babies--go on the public speaking circuit, etc..

I also have a problem with using fertility treatments when you obviously don't need them. It sounds like these people could get pregnant on their own, but took fertility treatments on purpose just so they could have multiples. The parents have to know they're risking the babies' health and the odds are against them, yet they do it anyway. It's kind of like endangerment. It makes you wonder about their reasons for wanting kids in the first place.

But, that's their business.

I think because it doesn't happen everyday. I wouldn't want that either but everyone is different! I think that sometimes people are just facinated with something like this because to some (like me) it is crazy! I have a hard time taking care of myself and because I have a 2 yr old and newborn, imagine what this woman will look like after a full day with 14 children???

I don't get this either because... they had to have allowed the hospital to release information about that many kids being born (if they didn't the HIPPA laws would enable the family to sue the hospital.

So it's like they wanted everyone to know that they had 8 kids, but they don't want everyone to know who they are.

When stuff like this happens, the family is usually given help with things such as strollers that will seat all the kids, diapers, cribs and even vans to drive all the kids. I don't know if this is because they have spent all kinds of money on fertility treatments, or if it is in exchange for "air time" on television.

severe religious communities whinge approximately each and every thing, they are in fact the only reason I examine the Harry Potter books. under no circumstances might have piked that e book up if it replaced into not for them. My wager is it has monsters with horns (devil) and a few extra stuff which will purely reason me to pass right into a rant so i'm going to stop now.

Don't you think this mom is stressed out enough with the fact that she just had 8 newborns with 6 other kids at home? Do we really need to cause the poor woman more drama by posting news about her and her family all over the internet and tv?

Give her a break. Everyone needs to mind their own business and let the woman live her life.

This is a woman who lives with her parents and had 6 children. Then decide to use fertility treatments and had octuplets. At some point we have to question her sanity.

Because its weird. Doesn't make a lot sense. Very out of the ordinary. No single news source seems to have the whole story either.

As for my answer...I think its amazing and a little crazy. 8 newborns...thats just crazy cause as if 6 is not enough, but hey whatever toots their horn. I mean if she can care for these children phsyically, finacially, emotionally and provide for them shelter, food and love then all is good right. They are her responsibility. I would not want my name plastered all over the net or tele either but as if she did not know that giving birth to 8 babies was going to attract a "wee bit" of attention.
