    P=3E

    P=4S

    Answer 1:

    Paul=72

    72=3E

    E=24

    72=4S

    S=18

    72+24+18=114, so NO

    Answer 2:

    Paul=66

    66=3E

    E=22

    66=4S

    S=16.5

    Since you can't catch 16.5 fish, 66 is WRONG

    Answer 3:

    Paul=60

    60=3E

    E=20

    60=4S

    S=15

    60+20+15=95 (less than 100)

    The Answer is 60

    P + E + S < 100

    P + P/3 + P/4 < 100

    12P + 4P + 3P < 1200

    19P < 1200

    P < 1200/19

    P < 63.15

    The greatest integer divisible by 3 and 4 but less than 63 is 60.

    So the answer is 60.

    The answer is 60.

    Source(s): By expressing quantities of Eric and steve in terms of Pauls catch we can express the total as [ 19 P < 12 x 100 ] . Solving this for maximum value of P as a whole number gives the answer Paul( 60 )+ Eric (20) + Steve (15) = 95 For values higher than 60 for Paul, the total would exceed 100
