How would someone from another country; Canada for example, start to the process for getting US citizenship.?

Does anyone know the steps in detail how someone would start to try to get citizenship in the United States

This isn't going to help you, but if you're caucasian, well-educated, and from a first-world country like Canada, England, Australia or France, you will find it very difficult to immigrate to the U.S. It doesn't make any sense to me, but that has been the experience of everyone I know.

Immigrate there and live there for five years (3 if married), and you can apply to get U.S. Citizenship.

Not much detail, but that's an overview.
