Why do Americans re-make so many Asian films?

Everyone bites everyone from Hollywood to Bollywood. Many older asian movies mimicked the Spaghetti Westerns and the works of Shakespeare.

As for right now, we're going through a trend similar to what we saw in the 1980s (trends seem to reoccur every 25-30 years) where a horde of ninja, martial arts, and samurai movies dropped and the U.S. also saw many "Americanized" anime cartoons on their Saturday mornings.

Today, it's a bit more open where we get to see asian films in more than just things that would appeal to Naruto fan-boys. American audiences like all the visual imagery and complex storylines but cannot become completely absorbed because there's scenes that simply don't make sense to us due to culture, history, and language.

There is also a lot of money to be made by remaking these films (this is the biggest reason why we're seeing this trend, of course) thanks to the swarms of people who instantly enjoy anything asian (especially Japanese).

There only one reason, Hollywood has run out of ideas. The Asian are just more creative when in comes to movies particularly horror.

EDIT, really? Had no Idea! I love A tale of two sisters, nothing can beat that movie so i'm not going to bother seeing this "uninvited" sh^it .

I have a huge Asian Horror collection...I lover horror

I prefer American horror. It has a more classic feel to it. Things like Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th are genuine classic films, even outside of the "Horror Film" bracket. And look at "Silence of the Lambs"! Only Horror/Thriller film to win Best Picture at the Oscars, and it has very little gore in it at all. Truly a fantastic film

Many American films are remakes of both Asian and European films. American films are usually not original, but if you like blockbuster budgets and special affects then I think American remakes usually surpass the original.

I don't know. You could ask why Bollywood remakes Hollywood films. Or why American towns are named after British ones.

Asians, obviously, have better films right now.

They are running out of ideas and creativity, typical of them.

Because Asian's do a shitty job.
