Harnessing the power of the atom and developing the Nuclear Bomb, and Nuclear energy. Not saying the bomb was a good thing, but it has forever changed the world.

The Panama Canal is more of a construction feat rather than an engineering feat. The pyramids are in the same category.
Now do you mean great in terms of benefit to mankind or just very complex and difficult?
In terms of benefit to mankind, the electronic computer may well be the greatest but it still has a way to go.
In terms of complexity or difficulty the I would go with the space program. Not just any one item like the moon landing but the total program because each step is built on the previous steps.
