Is my tank fully stocked? or can I get some more fish?
I have a 40 gallon breeder tank which just means it is longer and wider than it is tall so it gives the tank more surface area. I would like to get a small school of rummy nose tetras (about 6) but don't know if my tank is already at a maximum. I have 2 angels, 2 kribs, 2 bolivian rams, 10 cardinal tetras, 5 hatchetfish, 3 panda corries, 1 dojo loach, 1 apple snail, 1 bristlenose pleco, 1 otto catfish, and 2 wood shrimp. I keep good care of the water with 25% weekly water changes and vaccuum the gravel weekly. will pick best answer, thanks.

first off keep the tank as is and dont get anymore fish. even though you dont have the tank stocked properly i wont sit here and tell you to get rid of some to make it right such as getting the proper schooling fish that you are missing. keep up the water changes and be careful when you add water after a water change because if you dont match temperature properly you could end up with itch ph shock and an unbalance amount of nutrition causing algea. Good luck
aditional details. Bubbles listed the way the tank should of been stocked but since its over stocked the extra fish cant be added. those are the exceptions

Ya your tank is fully stocked and besides you still need to finish some schoolers like there needs to be:
-6 hatchets(No exceptions)
-4 ottos(No exceptions)
-3 dojo loaches(No exceptions)

I think that you are right at the limit of your tank. If you are wanting to get more fish. I would get another tank and set it up for your schoolers. Maybe this a new word?

Edit: what is with the no exception thing?

get 2 more oto cats so that they can school and then you are done. you should probably get a different tank for the angels they prefer tall tanks to wide tanks.
