How to clean melted/burnt plastic off my glass top stove?
We accidentally set a bag of groceries down on a hot stove. The plastic bag partly melted, partly burned onto the burner. Ick. What do you suppose is the best way to clean it? I don't want to scratch the glass.
I've peeled as much of the plastic off as I can, and scrubbed with glass stove cleaner to remove some burnt stuff, but some is too hard and cemented to the stove to be removed that way.

I would try the same tip I would suggest for wax...
Place a sheet of a brown paper bag on top of the plastic
Press the tip of a warm iron gently over the affected area until the plastic melts and attaches to the paper
Lift the paper
Good luck.

The instructions for glass top say use a razor to lift it off (at an angle, of course). I use those found in paint dept. to clean off paint. Afterwards, there are great new cleaners on the market.
I have had 2 glass tops now and love them. (Gave 1 away in perfect condition, about 7 years old.)
Give this a try.

I have found that plastic cards like credit cards are very good for scraping stuff off of smooth surfaces without damaging the finish. Works well removing paint from window glass, etc.

It will smell but I would get it hot again either by the burner or set a hot pot on it. When it is really soft, melted, wipe it off

I use a butter knife, scrape it off.
