do goldfish mate at a certain time?

I'm totally not trying to breed my goldfish ok because i only really care for the fantails but i took in two carp as well. My nieces won them at the carnival. Well I got the carp fish and it was all good until about 2-3 months later the tank was a foggy dirty color and so i changed the water again (I change half the water every week on all my fish tanks). Well my fish had the poor water disease because i hadn't got to change it before i left for the weekend about 2 weeks ago then i scrubbed down the tank after all my fish got better. Note only the carp has this red blood like appearance. i had gotten a fantail calico before i left. well 2 sundays ago i got another fantail calico (this one is mostly white n orange w. few spots my first one was covered in spots). well my tank is white again and i thought it was because of cleaning the water. I asked what was up with it before. but I cleaned the tank last wednesday and its almost been a full week and between saturday night and tonight its really foggy and smells bad. The tanks are in my room n that ain't good. any ideas?

Update:

be serious about this please i cant handle anything else with babies right now

Update 2:

I don't know the people at the local fish store (yes we actually have an all fish store weird i know) told me to when i went and bought the meds to clear the fishes illness up. You'd think if it was an all fish store they'd know about this. It's 25 gal. according to meijer.

by the way common goldfish are still carp and these things are 2 inches wide and 3-3 1/2 inchews long. I mean huge compared to common goldfish. I tried getting her mom to let her keep them but her mom doesn;t want the responsibility and she paid for her to play the game.

Update 3:

It could be the air. Sometimes the filter works and sometimes it doesn't.. I tear the filter appart and clean the algae out from the algae that doesn't get picked up. I got one of those little white/gold algae eater things. but I doubt thats harming the tank.

What do you mean when you say clean the tank ? Your not doing something stupid like taking out all the water and scrubbing out the insides are you ? Cus that will cause the tank to re-cycle every time you do that and that would cause the cloudy water. Also causes of cloudy water are over feeding and not enough Oxygen in the water. It will smell like rotten eggs is your tanks isn't getting enough oxygen or the water is fouled. Goldfish produce too much waste to be kept in anything smaller than 20 gallon tanks. Then you need to have a filter rated for a 40 gallon and do 30 % water changes weekly. 50 % a week is a little much but may be a good thing.

I don't have the time but just goggle fish tank cycle and goldfish care and see if you can't learn a little more about the whole process. You need to go back to fish keeping boot camp lol. Good Luck

O ya and goldfish wn't breed untill they reach about 6 inchs for the fan tails and the commons need to be more around 10 inchs so I doubt you will ever have them long enough to see them breed.

How big is your tank? Odds are it is not big enough.

The red spots could be due to high ammonia levels in your water. Never clean out the entire tank, it makes matters much worse by removing all the bacteria that breaks down fish waste.

Your niece won common goldfish from the carnival. Two require about 75 gallons with double the filtration. They do not spawn until they reach sexual maturity at about one year of age at which time they should be at least six inches long.

You should not house fancy goldfish and common goldfish together. The quicker commons will stress the fancies. Fancy goldfish and common goldfish share the same scientific name Carassius auratus. Fancy goldfish are mutations of the common goldfish.

That is a carp- http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S7-_JVDT_qM/RcDpeKCOX0I/... Goldfish are distantly related to carp.

~Your tank is severely overstocked. A 25 gallon is barely large enough to house two fancy goldfish. Try to find a pond for the commons.

~How is a local fish store weird? Most areas have them. I have three that I know of that deal solely with fish.
