So why did Florida get our icing?

So, I live in Alabama. And I was looking at our map wondering why Florida got all the ocean-front property.... I mean. If someone cut a piece of cake like that you'd be pissed.

PS. i slept in history class.

firstly, don't sleep in class, sure it can be boring but you're throwing money out the window when you do,

I can only venture this guess

When Florida became a US state, it was populated mostly on the shoreline due to easy fishing access. Look at beyond that shoreline...marshes and stuff, why'd they want that?

Not that it really matters...you can still get to the beach in 4-5 hours anyway...
