This was a hard one Mr. Dude Vinster... After tossing a coin in my head I was forced to settle on "Braveheart!" Now to the "Why"..

Being a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, his playing of Wallace tended to take on a more personal aspect to me. I don't think any other actor could have taken the role, & pulled the true historical person, & persona forward into the character as Mel Gibson did. (I don't give a rat's **** if he wore plaid before its time!). Thru him I felt as if I was actually walking/living in the steps of those times in Scotland. Going thru their strife, suffering their poverty, seeking their independence from the harsh British to be able to live as they chose to live.

Whether it was from the damp peat fires, the cold wet moors, the cold Highlands, the Lochs, to the blood running like rivers on the battle fields, seeing it thru the character presented to me by Mel Gibson, brought it all to life! Yet at times, his sense of natural humor & wit were allowed to come through. Though, there wasn't much in this character's, or those of any Scotsmen/women, during the reign of the British to be happy about.

Though there were some hard-nosed, snobbish, know-it-all, but really know-not-much-of-anything-except-their-own-conceptions-of-history... Historians who griped, & tried to bring the movie down as to its being, "Historically Inaccurate!" They failed to realize that nowhere in the advertising, in the film itself, by the actors, or anywhere, or by anyone else did it ever state the Movie was in fact EXACTLY historically accurate. It was a movie made on the lives of people who had lived & died making marks on their times!

I have to agree with the person above. It is rather difficult to top his performance in "Braveheart." Primarily because we got to see so many levels of his ability as an actor. His strength, his passion, his anger, his drive and motivation. The sacrifice and bravery that he gave to his character was beyond reproach. I feel he portrayed this just as well in "The Patriot" (another of my true favorites). But when it comes down to choices.......... "Braveheart" wins!

(mel Gibson was in Pulp Fiction????)

I really liked Forever Young and The Man Without a Face, because they weren't action films and you really got to see him as an actor

the reason I didn't say Braveheart is because thats probably where everyone else is going to go, although I liked that movie as well

Forever Young is a firm favourite in my family. It is a lovely film with all the olde worlde charm of the period. And as for that ending. I always make sure there is a box of tissues on hand for the women - and not only for the women.

Braveheart - Because i'll love that movie forever. It's great, and so inspirational. It's what a movie should be, and it's possibly the greatest love/war movie of all time.

When they slit Murron's throat, I get all teary eyed. But then when William Wallace starts tearing the english a new butthole in her name, then i get all excited.

"EVERY MAN DIES, NOT EVERY MAN REALLY LIVES".
