Do you think we'll see Silva vs. GSP within the next year?
They could meet at a catch weight. I wasn't completely sold on GSP until his utter dominance over BJ last weekend. I always thought he was a good fighter, but UFC 94 put it over the top for me.
I think it would be a great fight of two very exciting fighters, and there is some rumour that it may happen at UFC 100 as they are trying to put together a really huge card for that event.

Well, there are rumors that GSP and Silva will meet at a middleweight fight (not catchweight) for UFC 100. This is possible despite what everyone else says because:
GSP recieved no injuries or medical suspensions during his bout with BJ so he shud b easily ready to fight by July (which is when UFC 100 is occuring)
GSP is a big welterweight and has more than enough time to bulk up even more for a fight at 185. His athleticism and skill will still prove difficult for opponents even with a size advantage.
Silva is the biggest problem though, he's fighting in April which means that he'll have to immediatetly jump back into training after his fight with Thales Leites, (which shouldn't be a problem and he'll most likely be injury free after the fight). However, Silva has professed to Dana that he wants to fight more often, so I don't see the shorter time span to be too big of a problem.
Bottom line is that the fans want to see it, and it would be a blockbuster match up and a great main event for something as historic as UFC 100. So i wud say all signs point to likely.

If Silva could drop to between 180 and 185 and GSP could jump as high in weight as he can, Anderson has still got the reach and height advantage, his speed is if anything close to equal to GSP's but Silva has to have him by strenght. And since even at their best I still can't see GSP's grappling skills completely overtaking Silva's, I don't think the match is far off from there being a big chance it could end up like UFC 94's headliner. At the same time, there is still a good chance that would be an amazing fight.
But I still don't see it happening, especially when Silva is at the point where he needs to be fighting LHWs and be given any disadvantage possible (not advantages like with GSP) if he is to claim to be UFC's all-time greatest dominator and have that title stay intact for awhile after he retires.

With Silva in all probability going up a weight type there is rather much no danger this combat will ever take place now, yet Silva could beat GSP in a combat that could desire to look rather much the comparable as whilst GSP beat Penn. Silva and GSP have equivalent skills, yet Silva is obviously an outstanding purchase extra beneficial/better, so as that could desire to be the adaptation.

I want to see the match, but I don't think we will see it this year. I could see them fighting at 180 or 185 for the belt. I'd rather see it for the belt so it can go 5 rounds. It would be an awesome fight. Probably come down to Anderson's ability to defend the takedown.
GSP will have to fight Alves in 4 months or so. Silva has Leites at UFC 97 then maybe a rematch with Okami.

yeah im probably in the minority because im a huge GSP fan since he ko'd Jay Heiron back in 2004 or so and I really respect his skills a lot but I dont want him to fight Silva because I dont see him making up the size difference and I think that SIlva is still a cut above him, plus the weight gain would take a while for GSP adjust to, so i dont see him fighting him so soon at UFC 100.

No.
It will never happen.
GSP is a big welterweight because he walks around 190 lbs, dropping 20 lbs before a fight makes a big difference when fighting a lighter opponent (as we saw against BJ Penn). Anderson Silva is a big middleweight, big enough to fight light heavyweight.
GSP will not fight a larger opponent, and Silva cannot drop to welterweight.
Catchweight matches are not sanctioned by the state commission, therefore it couldn't be in the UFC, or any MMA promotion.

I highly doubt it. After what just happened to Penn (the beat down) I think the UFC may be a little more cautious about there stars jumping different weight classes

well it'll be sometime in 09, at catchweight, probably between 175 and 180. it can't be for the title though, due to catchweight.
either way u better find a hat and hold the **** onto it!
