Is it odd to purchase an Acer laptop but not get an OS cd?

Some say it should come with it while others say Microsoft is getting less generous with giving them out with systems.

Its Not Microsoft it the PC manufacturers. These days modern PC's tend to have recovery partitions on the hard drive and you push something like F11 On boot up to access them and reinstall the OS that way rather than with CD's. They started doing this to reduce costs and piracy of copied CD's even tough its the windows Key Not the CD that really matters.

However I have set up a number of brand new Laptops and PC's for people and when started for the first time gave the option to create your own recovery disks. I'm sure that on an Acer there is such an option- I have read it in the start up manual from one laptop I set up.

It gave you the option to use 2 DVD's or 11 CD's.

Look in Start> All Programs Near the top it had a recovery disk creator option.
