Definitely laminate.. The finish on laminate is much better and easier to maintain Just don t get the 99 cent laminate. Get one w/ a warranty that will last you Parquet is a bit dated. Parquet is also a laminated product so it has its pros and cons there. GL

I would also suggest laminate. The price ranges from .69 sq st up to $4 a sq ft. One of the most popular laminates right now is a high gloss laminate here is an example http://www.georgiacarpet.com/park-avenue-laminate....

It really depends on what your budget is but if you are looking at current flooring trends laminate is the way to go vs parquet. You could also go with a hardwood floor also. GL

I would go with the Hardwood since laminate you aren't supposed to mop! I just bought a house a while ago and for some reason they covered all the hardwood with laminate (my neighbours says that most of the wood is in fine condition). Anyway, due to limited money right now, i can't refinish the wood so I don't want to lift the laminate but it's become the bane of my existence! I have animals and so to clean it (often) it's all about squatting, spraying vinegar water and wiping up. It would be so nice to just mop!!! One day, one day! lol Also, since it's a rental you're in, get the cheaper thing! it's not like you have to think about resale! Cheers and congrats on your baby!

Personally, I don't like parquet. If you are going with hardwood go with planks. Parquet looks dated. Take a look on this site, http://store.qualityflooring4less.com/
