Well I guess in his way he is telling his girl that he now knows he didn't try hard enough to make the relationship work and he is asking for a second chance to fix things and to try harder next time. I guess as a girl, I would rather have a man willing to fight for love, admit he made mistakes, and be willing to try harder this time, than a man who doesn't love me at all. I don't know if it is a good song, but not many men can treat a woman good, and most won't admit that they treat you poorly in the first place.
