How can I make swallowing easier?
I have a really bad cold and cough right now, and constant post nasal drip. Its so bad that I have a hard time swallowing, whether it be liquid or food. It makes me feel like im choking! I am taking cold medicine constantly (as directed) and I am blowing my nose often. I can look at my throat with a flashlight at any time and you can see snot in the back of my throat (SO gross I know) and its bothering me so bad. Is there anything else I can do to help with this?
I know I dont have strep..my throat looks fine...

You probably have bronchitis. My husband had the same symptoms and he finally went to the doctor. Bronchitis makes your throat kinda swell which is hard to swallow.

From the symptoms you are describing, it seems that you have an infection going on hon that requires immediate medical intervention. This is a situation where cold medicine will only make things worse. You need antibiotics. Make a doctors appointment or go to an urgent care center ASAP. An infected throat (possibly strep) will not go away on its own. Please take care of yourself. Hope you feel better soon...Good luck!

Try some vicks vapor rub on your feet when you go to bed. It works on little kids I know that they sleep real good if you put it on the soles of there feet. this in turn will help open up your nasal passages to which then you can breath better and then swallow. I know it is a real pain to eat and swallow when your nose is all plugged up. almost make you want to vomit and that even is real chore.

If you cant swallow, you have to see a doctor. You need some antibiotics. You may have a severe strep throat, or sinus infection that has spread to yoyur throat now. GOOOOOOOOOO!
Do not take any one else's antibiotics for your throat!

This is going to sound crazy but I heard this from a friend who said their grandmother used to tell them to use an old remedy for a sore throat.Make some hot tea and then take a very small amount of Vicks, the kind you rub on your chest for congestion, mix it in together and your throat should feel better plus you have that listerine kind of feeling when you breathe.

Sip warm green tea with honey and lemon, it is soothing and cleansing and will aid in your recovery. Until you start getting better though it is still going to be uncomfotable for a while.

Yes you can go a get some Mucinex. You can find it at any store. It gets rid of the mucus (the snot) in your throat.
