Huevo's band of the day?

The band Tsunami was formed in late 1990 and served as an integral part of the indie rock scene for the following decade, releasing 4 albums in that span. In addition to helping form the band and serving as the vocalist, Jenny Toomey also cofounded the Simple Machines record label which released a numerous amount of their contempararies 7" records. Several of the songs released have been compiled onto either the Working Holiday and The Machines discs, true gems that include contributions from Velocity Girl, Lungfish, and Superchunk. Anywho, I'm throwing down some Tsunami tracks. Listen to the songs and comment if you like.

Update:

Happy Friday Sookie!

And I have to say, your avatar name often gets me to think back to the days of Unrest although they spelled it different.

Update 2:

Glad to hear that Houston, there was a whole variety of options available to the listening ear. Really a great era for music if you knew where to look.

Update 3:

Hey Shake, yeah, Scrawl put out a couple of 7"s on the Simple Machines label. I remember them somewhat, pretty decent from what I recall.

Update 4:

Awesome to see you Mizz SJG

Tsunami...woo-hoo! I haven't listened to them in ages.

So they are on compilations with VG and Superchunk? *That's* something I would need to check out.

    And Happy Friday, Huevo!

Edit: Unrest...there's another one I haven't heard in forever! Spelled differently, but definitely the same idea. :)

Gotta say I am not a big fan. I did like the first song, though. Kind of a kinder, gentler Husker Du thing going on there if that's not too much of a stretch. They kind of remind me of a Columbus band out around that same time called Scrawl, which I'll get around to posting one of these weeks.

I'm a lil' late answering, but this is cool music for my Sat AM beer breakfast...lol...they remind me of coffee and cigs on the weekend, rainy days, with a run in the park in the afternoon sun. Cool.

    Hey Huevo!

Huh, I like them, I'm not a fan of 90's music, but something like this completely changes my mind.

i actually have 'the heart's tremolo' on cassette - i don't think i've played it since i bought it, though.

i probably just wasn't impressed enough at the time.

maybe i should go back to it.
