Why do the USA avidly follow minority sports such as American Football and baseball ?
Would not the rest of the World benefit from their partisipation of gameds such as soccer ( football ) and particularly rugby ! Come on you guys !
They are " minority " sports in as much as the World generally fails to warm to them and they make little impact on gthe World stage . Admire the US Eagles rugby team and would love to see the Yanks take rugby up seriously .

The Americans are an insular, parochial society and so do not see the need to follow the rest of the World. As far as they are concerned Baseball and American football are major sports and they regard football and rugby as minority sports. I would think they would like rugby if it was properly promoted as it is a contact sport like their football.
Ben S , Lighten up!
You are giving ammunition to the anti-U.S.A. faction.

why is it a minority game the european union has 492.964.961 people living there and america has Population: 303,824,640 so hmm how minority like is that with a relatively close population... its defiantly not such a large difference 4:3 ratio as to it's a minority... we just have more people per a country there are also more american football players then european rugby players... and btw many american collages do play rugby...
So really its just cultural differences and while we are behind with soccer it's bc we have soo many extra sports that you guys don't do
like you guys don't play base ball and you do do cricket over hear that's be a minority sport although factually there are relatively the same amount of both cricket and baseball players above a "for fun" level.
So it just depends on whoes level your looking at over hear those are minority sports (cricket and rugby) soccer isn't though its widly played but not at the same level as you guys... but trust me if you had foot ball and baseball teams we'd dominate. Just like you guys dominate at you're sports that you like to watch.
Because really thats like asking as english speaker why so many people speak such a minority language like chinease... oh wait there are billions of people who speak chinesase just like there are millions of english speakers....
Think about it from both sides or in a paraphresed quote from your question COME ON YOU GUYS (meening the one sided other answeres who obviously donn't know these statistics)

Oh I really am going to follow this one LOL.... (and I totally agree about football/soccer. It is not a sport it is a business that exists only to make money) Bring it on hehehehe
aren't baseball/softball derivative games of rounders? (an ancient game only played in school and by women in the uk?)

That's your opinion. People do complain of how it's quite time consuming but if you understand it, time doesn't really doesn't matter. Baseball is fun and entertaining to me, and that's my opinion. How is nascar a sport?

Think about it, the 'minority sports' are the only ones they are good at, which is why they stick to them.
America playing football (soccer) is just embarrassing to watch.

ok. its because in america our entire nation is a bunch of FAT ASSES!!!!!!!! we suck at soccer cause it requires us to be in shape. we need to play sports where any fat *** kid can go out and play without much running or work. thats why no one plays soccer or any real sports. and im an american.
