when naming your children...?
did you choose to pick a name that you liked and then a family name for like the middle name?
i'm just wondering how many other people have done this. i did with both of my daughters names.
my oldest is named after my grandma and named the middle name that all the first born daughters are named in my family. my younger daughter's middle name is the name of one of my great-aunts.

That's exactly what my husband and I did. We agreed our first son or second daughter would have a middle name from my husband's side, and our first daughter or second son would have a middle name from my side. We just had our first son, and his name is James Kenneth. Kenneth's my husband's middle name, his dad and grandad's first name, and the first name of our BIL.

I think it's fairly common. My husband wants to give our first son the same middle name as his which is an old family surname. If we have a girl we want to name her Gail after my husband's late father Gale but we haven't decided on a middle name yet (we're leaning towards Marie, which is my middle name and a common name in my mom's family). My brother is named after my mother's grandfather and has the same middle name as my father and his father. Since we haven't really picked a name for a boy yet we are waiting to get our hands on some family trees to look at for inspiration. But either way the name has to be something that we like...or at least one of us likes and the other is at least lukewarm about.

I am expecting my second child. If it is a boy then his middle name will be Adam as this is my husband's middle name. If it's a girl we have gone away from naming after family.

My children will have a first and middle that I and my SO likes, then they will have a second middle name to honor family.

My daughter's name is Kaylee Morgan. My husbands moms middle name is Kay, and my moms middle name is Lee. We put the 2 names together for Kaylee, then we both just liked Morgan. Don't know what I'll do if we have another though.
