A-Rod failed a dope test in 2003. What do you think about it?

Isn't/hasn't drug taking been pretty widespread in MLB? Why wouldn't A-Rod have been tempted? People are always going to ask questions about sportsmen/women who have such phenomenal records of achievement in their sport. This taints his home run hitting record doesn't it?

Update:

You think Mrs G?

Update 2:

I am an open minded enough Red Sox fan to accept that it hasn't been proven yet and therefore that he may be innocent. It's diabolical that someone's career/life can be ruined along with other people around them by unproven newspaper talk. The press abuse the excessive power they have. I was also trying to point out that even the most squeaky clean (apparently) can be tempted to step over the line. The people who make large amounts of money selling these illegal substances need to be stopped.

How do we know if he did or not? because a few anonymous people said so? I'm an anonymous source. It's to the point now where I can destroy any ones career, for any reason. All I need is two or three other anonymous people to back me up. I doubt I'll be vetted because reporters want the story much more then the truth. In this Nancy Grace world where due process in nothing more then a pain in the @ss, everyone is already putting the asterisk by his name, and saying he'll never be in the HOF. What if (perish the thought) He didn't do it. We don't want to think about that because then we would lose the chance to judge the man, and claim the moral high ground. Red sox fans are loving this. Even defense lawyers in Boston are willing to find A.Rod guilty by accusation. To everyone who is throwing A.Rod, or any ball player to the wolves based on a suggestion, I hope you run into the same situation. Maybe being falsely named in a sex scandal. That way, even if you prove your innocence, your lives will never be the same again.

Yea it was. Widespread is an understatement. It was like cigs in the early to mid 1900's. You're right, he probably was tempted to try steriods. If he comes out and says, "I used it once in 2003 to see if it would give me a competetive advantage to help me help my team, and it didn't. So, I'm sorry that this one-time brain lapse has created such a problem. No, it doesn't taint his record because most of the players who have tested positive are pitchers, and in 2003 it was LEGAL in baseball. You can't blame him for trying it once to become 'on par' with his pitching counterparts.

    Hope this helps!!

What this does is pretty much paint everyone who has played over the past 5-10 years with the same brush. They're all guilty until proven innocent.

All of this steroid hype is over publicized.

In 2003 everyone was taking roids. It was just part of the game back then. I think that any record broken should be returned to the original owner and that they should lose all stats in those years.

It just shows that you can't prejudice your opinions of who is guilty and who is clean in this steroid era. People think they can look at someone's body type or their head size and say whether or not they took steroids, but you can't. Everyone said Arod didn't have a "steroid body type". They were wrong.

Everyone should realize that EVERY PLAYER from the era is suspect and everyone shares blame. Players, managers, owners, reporters, TV networks and fans.

In my opinion, what it does, is it banishes any chances he had at Cooperstown. He cheated, whether it was legal ot illegal at the time. He has no credibility at all anymore.
