I've taken 2 years of french, and this is very easy. "A" is the contraction to, in, or at. "DE" is the contraction of of, from, or about. AU is A + a masculine article, like LE. A LA is A + a feminine article, like LE. A L" is A L' precedes any word that begins with a vowel or silent h. AUX is A + LES. The same thing goes for DE. DU is with a masculine article. DE LA is with a feminine article. DE L' precedes a word with a vowel or silent h. DES it with a plural article (LES). If you have any other homework problems, I don't mind helping. Just give me an e-mail.

Sorry I speak french and even I have a hard time explaining it. its very different from English all I can do is give you some examples with the translation. Hope this helps.

Ces gants appartiennent au garcon. = Those gloves belong to that boy. Note Singular Masculin

Je m'envais a la plage. = I am going to the beach. Note singular feminine

Je m'envais a l'auto. I am going to the car. Note singular masculine

a is when there is a feminine place afterward... au is for a masculine place... they both mean "to". For instance Je vais au cinema.... or... Je vais a la plage...

The l' is "the"... It's the same as la le and les, but you use it before vowels...

    De means of

Du means "some" for a masculine noun after it. De la is for feminine. De l' is the same as de la except that it's for a feminine word that starts with a vowel. Des is for a plural noun preceeding it...

I'm not quite sure about the filling out a chart about tour mountparnasse, because I don't have the exercise in front of me. But Tarifs is probably a cognate which means tarrifs which is another word for rates, in otherwords, how much it costs per *** *** = Day or Hour or Week etc. Hope I helped :)

First, you must decide if the noun is singular or plural. And then you must decide if it is masculine or feminine. The back of your French textbook should give you this information. For the most part it is easy to tell, but there are some harder nouns that require more difficulty.

Once you are able to tell this, then check out the link provided that charts it for you
