Divorce rips families apart, destroys society.....and helps the economy. Marrriage and divorce puts money in the hands of the government, and since money is really the only thing anyone cares about, it's going to be this easy forever.
Now, I'm not saying I approve, but this is why it is so easy. Also, on a personal note I think that parents arguing all the time that legitimately hate each other would hurt a child more than the two splitting up.

I have to agree. Divorce is way too easy, and has now become a natural or normal thing. Many get married with the thought int he back of their head, "Well, if it doesn't work out we can always divorce". If divorce was made more difficult (increased charges/filing fees, removal of no fault divorces, only allowing fault based divorces, required separations before filing, etc) people would think two, three and four times before getting married on a whim, or with the thought that they always have a way out.
As far as ruining society, I agree that society is more accepting of divorce when back in the day it was looked down upon -- taboo. Now its natural, accepted, ok, and it doesn't shock anyone. That leads to more being taught that divorce is ok for any reason, when in actuality it should only be considered when one is abused, cheated on, etc.

Pros: No need to live an unhappy life where someone does not love you. If you've been abused, neglected, or hurt by your spouse, or you've been cheated on, I feel those are grounds for divorce. Also, if you were rushed into a marriage you were unsure of, have tried counseling, or just know it's not going to work <different views of religion, children, etc...> divorce should be an option.
Cons: It's a very painful process to go through, and totally turns your life upside down. If children are involved it gets even messier. It could ruin you financially and emotionally. And those who are very religious say that it's a bow "until death do you part."

If you have ever been thru a divorce, you would know that it is not easy, especially if there are children involved. The state makes you jump through all sorts of hoops to make sure the children are considered. Parenting classes, etc.
I disagree that divorce rips families apart. Just because mommy and daddy no longer live together, does not mean there is not family there - it's just in a different form. Remember - there are many different ways to define family - not just the traditional mom, dad, kids unit.

Well pro-divorce : You cant stay with someone your not happy with regardless of the reason. Especially when theres children involved. Kids shouldnt have to hear their parents argue, fight, and tear eachother apart everyday. Kids shouldnt have to see their parents cry. I think it good when its not going to work no matter what, there is no reason kids should have to be in an abusive(whether is mentally, verbally, or physically) household and that is one of the number one reasons people get divorced.
On the other hand to many people nowadays go into a marriage thinking if it doesnt work out we could always get a divorce and thats not the way things should be if your marrying somebody you should try your damnest to make it work and spend the rest of your life with that person.
