What are the signs? Both Atheists and Christians?

Jesus told His disciples about His second coming shortly before His death. He said, "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man" (Matthew 24:37).

He then explained that He wasn't talking about another great flood like Noah's, but on people's attitude just before it came. He said, "In the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage ... and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away" (Matthew 24:38-39).

In other words, just before the flood, people were doing what they always do—eating, drinking, marrying and so forth. But in the midst of it all, they ignored Noah's warnings and deliberately turned their backs on God. They had ample warning of God's coming judgment but they refused to believe, and were swept away as a result.

It will be the same, Jesus said, before He returns. Most people will ignore God's Word and go on living their lives as if God didn't even exist. But suddenly, time will run out, Christ will return—and then it will be too late. But it doesn't need to be this way! When we know Christ, we have no reason to fear the future, because we belong to Him forever. Are you ready for that day? You can be, by giving your life to Christ.

Biblical answer: There is no evidence that the world will end in 2012.

The Bible does not give a date. Jesus said there is an appointed time, but only God knows when. (and that time could very well be 2011 or 2010 or 2009 or maybe even 2050.) According to the Bible, only God know when.

Some folk note that the Mayan calender ends in our year of 2012 and have interpreted that to mean the world will end. That is not what is written on the stone. Have you seen a picture of the stone? Take a good look at it. It is completly full. I suspect they ended the calander in 2012 because 1) it was the end of their counting cycle and 2) they just ran out of room on the stone. Saying the Mayan calender ends in 2012 is kinda like saying our calender ends 31 December 2009. It does, but I don't see any reason to worry about it.

People try to say that the end is near because Obama is president and people try to suggest he is the AntiChrist, but according to the Bible, the AntiChrist cannot be out and about so to speak cause us Christians are still here. He will not show himself until we believers are all gone.

The book of Revelation 13:5 states The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for 42 months.

Since the presidential term is 48 months, some people try to say that Obama will be in office at that time and he will be the AntiChrist, but he cannot be for the reason that I stated above...

Also, they are trying to say that the alignment of the stars will align on a certain day in December 2012, I think the 12th, and that will be the end of days.

BUT according to the Bible, no one NEVER knows when it will be and it certainly doesn't say it will be in 2012.

This is all an invention by some stupid people who claims that the Mayan calendar ends on 2012.

In reading your question it seems to be a little hard to understand or follow. It almost seems like the first part before the comma and the second part after are two different questions/topics/ideas. Or it could be that it's way too late and my mind isn't able to keep up with your brilliance. Acting hatefully is a sign of ignorance AND fear. People often fear what they don't know and then lash out violently as a defense mechanism.

There is not scientific evidence of the 2012 theory.

The world is not going to end in 2012.

Now, in 2029, an asteroid has been calculated to pass by the Earth and get closer to our planet then television satellites are. But it will not hit the Earth. However, if it passes through a certain keypoint, there's a chance that the asteroid will return in (I think) 2036. However, scientists are rapidly building "just-in-case" defenses for this.

Well, according to apocalyptically minded Christians, the world has been coming to an end for the past 2000 years and the signs are always there. As for the secular explanation, there's supposed to be a planetary alignment (not true, and past alignments have been only perceptible by observation) or a "galactic alignment" (which is really hard to define) or a magnetic pole reversal (which no one has ever experienced and can't really be predicted) or a "rogue planet" passing by (which no one has been able to detect three-odd years out). So until we see the Earth's magnetic field start to fade out, or spot that "rogue planet", it's all hooey.

It has to do with the Mayan calendar. It ends on December 21, 2012- the winter solstice. There will be a couple of somewhat rare cosmological events that take place that day- but I don't think it will be the end of the world or the apocalypse.

It doesn't say anything at all in the Bible about that specific date. The Mayans did predict the arrival of Cortes (to the very day!)- but I think that the "prophecy" of 12/21/12 is not accurate. It has to do with some celestial activity. God knows the future- but Satan does not. He tries to predict it, but fails. Satan is trying to scare people about the end of the world. There is a lot of deception going on today, and most people aren't cognizant.

I believe that the rapture will take place soon- maybe within the next five years. But that's only my opinion. Only God himself knows when it will really happen. Man does not.

I don't think it's true. I think there's just a lot of hype to get people all charged up over it. Notice that it was not Christians who created this deadline. It was ancient Mayans. But who jumped right on the bandwagon? Christians...simply because they believe in the End of Days. I do not believe in the End of Days and I do not believe that the Earth will end in 2012.

2012 is when the planets align I believe and was also the "end" of the mayan calendar which is why people believe it is the end of the world. The Mayans were not Christians (apparently Jesus didn't bother coming to any North American civilizations, just the middle east) so it is not Christian based.
