Will a sound card with game port (db15) use up lots of system resources even tho I only need the joystick port?

I have Dell with a Sound Blaster X-Fi sound card. It does not have the usual game port or joystick port (db15) like all the previous sound blaster PCI cards of the past. So if I install an older Sound Blaster card (since I have purchasing them for the last 15 years) that has the game port... Will this older sound card waste a significant amount of system resources (possibly slowing my gaming experience) even though I will just be using it for the game port only... not the sound.

Update:

I will test your answer today. I will install a Sound Blaster Live (4 years old) card and hook my Thrustmaster joystick to the game port so I can drive in my favorite car racing games Carmageddon 2 & FlatOut 2. I just hope XP wont try to detect & connect the card for sound use, when all I need is the joystick port. I will consider buying a cheapo sound/game port card that is not Sound Blaster brand, if XP insists I install SB Live drivers.

No, installing extra devices won't utilize system resources. Well, not much anyway. You will not notice any differences in CPU utilization or memory, it's negligible.
