50th Birthday Ideas???? For me!?

OK..I RARELY ask questions, but I'm feeling "froggy" today...my friends are having a 50th b-day party for me on Saturday...(my birthday is actually next Wed. the 18th)...what would YOU do to make it memorable if you were me...which would you drink, wine or margaritas (can't decide) and do you have a favorite EASY appetizer recipe you can share with me for me to take to the party (since we're all on a budget, we're all bringing something to "graze" on)...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME !!! LOL!

"old school...but STILL cool!"

Update:

Oh "chefgrille" that sounds AWESOME...and YES, I'm gonna try it...YUM!

Update 2:

PS- I live at the coast, and good shrimp is easy to come by...

    Hi LA

    try this

    . Nutty Irishman (shooter)

The Nutty Irishman is a smooth shot Brithday Day bash. Use your favorite Irish cream liqueur like Bailey's, McGuire's or St. Brendan's and a hazelnut liqueur such as Frangelico. This recipe also makes a good sipper when served on the rocks, making sure to keep the liqueur ratio at 1:1.

Happy (upcoming) birthday! I know you said budget, but this is a time to kind of blow your budget just a little. I think I have a great appetizer for you. It's Mexican Shrimp Cocktail, a knock-off version of an appetizer my husband and I had at a very upscale restaurant and had to recreate at home.

You'll need raw shrimp. If it's in your budget, get them peeled and deveined. In a large ziplock pour about 1/3 cup of olive oil, about 1/2 cup of OJ, 1/3+ tequila, a couple spoonfuls of minced garlic, some lime zest and maybe 1/4 cup lime juice, a bunch of chopped green onions and cilantro. Toss in the shrimp and marinate for at least 3 hours. Then grill them (if you have a Foreman-type grill, great) and let chill in the fridge.

For the cocktail sauce, get a jar of your favorite salsa. Add about a tsp. of raw horseradish and garlic and taste for heat. Add some lime zest and lime juice and stir in a little cilantro. It's almost like a Bloody Mary dip.

Of course, adjust any amounts for taste. It's a killer appetizer and one that nobody will ever forget. It's an incredible twist on normal boring shrimp cocktail.

    Have a blast!
