staggared wheel fitment?

i saw a staggered wheel fitment on a 4x4 jimmy. my mechanic told me a staggered wheel fitment would kill the transfer case if it was done. what's going on? someone please tell me?

    The transfer case provides power to both the front and the rear tires when the 4X4 mechanism is activated. If the front 2 tires/wheels diameters are different, they will rotate at a different speed from the rear. When this happens, the the transfer case tries to cope with the difference by tearing itself apart.

    The difference in the rolling radius of the tire puts great stress on not only the transfer case but differentials and viscous couplings as well. The greater the difference, the greater the potential for damage. Even if all 4 are exactly the same size, low air pressure in 1 or more of the tires can also cause damage to the transfer case.
