What is the best way to write stand up comedy material?
I am greening and need to put together more stand up material. I'm running into writer's block and am throwing the question to the Yahoo answers group.

Most stand up comedians talk about their own life. To make a joke out of it, just look at your own life, day by day, week by week and just look at the things that have happened to you. Look at what you find can be funny. Make observations about the world around you. Try to look at things in new perspectives, the jokes have to come from your own personal experiences or through stories you've heard from friends. Relate them to a more generalized idea and then your audience can connect with it. Good Luck

I can't imagine a greater threat to any one occupation than political correctness is to comedians. Perhaps you could turn the tables and discuss just who it is that sits in judgement of what is "pc" or not. What their mandate and qualifications are. From which statutes do they draw their authority. Or even "Who the Hell are they?"
Done well, this could not only be funny but an immense public service.

*Focus hard on how other comedians do their job.
