You did it right , but the only thing missing was where you had 100cg =1 and it should be 100cg = 1 g to cancel out the units so you are left with 859,000 cg
8.59kg (1000g/1kg)*(100cg/1g)= 859,000 cg
or 8.59 x 10^5th cg

you must use the same units in math. Cannot Multiply dollars times cents. (1000g/1kg) is equal to 1 because 1kg =1000g, so 1000g/1000g = 1. remove the 100g/1kg from the equation. 100cg is equal to 1g, so 1g/1 is also equal to 1. this equaiton is equal to 8.59kg, so I would guess your problem lies the the formula you are using.

Much easier way of calculating those type of questions. Grams, Liters, meters, etc...
Count the number of places from Kilo, Hecto, Deca, g, desi g, centi g, milli g. Thus 5, move the decimal point 5 places = 859 000 centigrams.
Peace.

Nobody uses centigrams, why would you want to convert to cg?
Your calculation is correct, though, there are 859,000cg in 8.59kg. I've just never heard of anybody using cg before, only tonnes, kilograms, grams, milligrams and micrograms.

Nothing. You have the right answer but you could do it in a simpler way by doing 8.59kg(100000cg/1kg)
