Question about the EHIC card? UK resident...?

I'm going on a Uni trip to Barcelona next month. I am 18 and am on my parents EHIC card and we applied for them when going on a ski trip together and this seemed the easiest option. If i am away and hurt myself and have this family card am I still covered even though my parents are not there or should i apply for a new card and if so what happens about the family one, does it need to be replaced with my mum and dad on it only.

Sorry about this just can't find the answer. Thanks in Advance.

The cards are free. You might as well get your own.

Also, the EHIC (the old name for this is the E111) only covers you for emergency treatment- make sure you've got travel insurance too.

If you're staying within the EU, it's about £8 a person per week. Even if your uni don't organise any cover, do it yourself!

An x-ray costs over £100. Imagine how quickly that sort of stuff count mount up, if something bad happened.

you at the instant are not entitled to an EHIC card. you could be a British citizen to qualify for one in each of those. the utility varieties are accessible from a submit place of work. examine the words and stipulations very intently and you will see which you will not have one. in case you lie on the variety, or do not provide the mandatory counsel, then you definately would be to blame of a criminal offence. in case you return and forth everywhere interior the ecu you may take out private scientific coverage. The Schengen Zone is barely enthusiastic approximately flow of labour with out passports, it truly is not a mutual nationwide well-being service.

Now that you are an adult, you are better off applying for your own EHIC card.

According to this NHS site every member of a family has to have their own card. You can apply for them online through this link and they will take 7 days to arrive...longer if it's done by phone or mail...
