Bradhurt- you have a good list of stars there but no way would I put Montana at number 2. Favre is the best in history and I am a Lions fan, I have had to deal with this nemises for a long time twice every year. I hated Favre. But hes the best and thats the facts. Also Bradhurt, why do you not have Johnny Unitas on your list? Tom Brady will likely surpass all Favres records though. Brady is the best in todays league.

EDIT- Did all you people that say hes not in the top 10 realize that Favre never missed a game? He played thru injuries and even when his father died he showed up the follwing Sunday to win the game for his dad? He led the packers to 2 superbowls and even when the whole team sucked he still came out every game like he was going to win? Favre deserves the title not only because of all the records but because of the dedication to football, the loyalty to a team and not the money and his love for his fans. No quarterback ever has played with the heart that Brett has. Even when he left for New York, he left on good terms. He was co-operative with his old team. He just wanted to play football. As a lions fan like I said earlier I hated him, but I love football, and will give him the credit he deserves as a true fan.

EDIT- here is my list by the way. Sorry, this topic gets me going.

    1- Brett Favre

    2- Johnny Unitas

3- Dan Marino (this poor guy really deserved a superbowl)

    4- Tom Brady

5- Troy Aikman- or John Elway (tough one)

Top 3 worst quarterbacks that just seem to get lucky-

    1- Ben Roethlisberger

    2- Ben Roethlisberger

    3- Ben Roethlisberger

In NFL's HISTORY? Are you kidding me? He isn't in the top 5 by far. Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Otto Graham are all better for starters. I mean I missed most of the history of the NFL, but I can still name some of the old QBs that were better. Come on just because he has records he is supposedly better? What about the different rules? What about the fact that he was NEVER the dominate QB in the league in his career.

    I'd put him at #10.

He's like the modern day Fran Tarkenton, you play long enough, you're gonna have a lot of records.

A gritty football player, that loved the game. Won a superbowl because the Pats sucked big time and he benefited from the best defense in football and a running game.

After that you look at the big games, they were far and few between. High interception rate and questionable throws even the lucky ones.

Also if you look at his career, he is a fast starter and gets very erratic in the tail end of the season.

Top 10 for sure, maybe top 5. He was way too inconsistent to say he's the best of all time. The toughest for sure, the best of making something out of nothing. But with all of his experience he made way too many mistakes to be the best.

Joe Namath number 1? He's not even top ten.

No, he is in the top 10, but not quite the top five.

    1. Joe Namath

    2. Joe Montana

    3. Bart Starr

    4. Roger Staubach

    5. Dan Marino

Not even close to being the best. Not even top 5 in my opinion. Top 10? Yes.

sure in the top 5. he made a mistake going to the jets and lost some respect. i am sure it is hard for a guy who loves football so much and still wants to play more than anything, hanging it up. a body can only do so much. i wish him well in what ever he does. we will probably see him on tv broadcasting football on some network. hats off to brett and thank you for many years of great football.
