2001 eclipse car audio problem?
I have a 01 eclipse. it has the original infinity amp and speakers. i also have subs, but besides the point. My head unit is a pioneer 7800. The head unit was wired in with the Mitah wiring harness using rca's.
One day im listening to a cd and suddenly the sound quality becomes terrible. lots of static and popping noises and at low volume no noise at all but at certain volumes there would be reasonable definition (still bad though) but at a reduced volume. I removed the head unit and reinstalled the factory one. no problems for about two weeks. now I'm getting similar static and popping noises but not nearly as bad as before and they only happen maybe once a day and barely noticeable.
Whats wrong?
my original guess was i blew the factory amp with the higher voltage pre-outs on my aftermarket head unit but it works fine most of the time with the OEM head unit. does anyone have an explanation for this, if they feel its the amp? or any other ideas that would explain the intermittent problems with OEM head unit and terrible problems with aftermarket?
also, im not an idiot, it is wired correctly, and have had the head unit in my car for over 4 years.
THANKS!

I'm not familiar with after market power requirements BUT...I've seen numerous times that the factory power amp has corrosion problems at the unit harness connectors and pin contacts in the amp. This is caused buy moisture on the floor carpet. The amp is located under the passenger seat. Remove the seat and take the amp out to check the connections and you may also take the covers off the amp to check the circuit board.

hey i had the same problem.. except i have a 2000 eclipse.. same system though.. what happened was i blew my amp and only one speaker(the middle dash speaker worked) im not sure why though.. but all i did was ran wires from the back of my aftermarket cd player and i bypassed the amp.. so all i did for that is unplugged the wires on the side of my amp and cut the connector off that plugged into the factory amp then i stripped the wires and found which ones went to which speakers then connectted all of the wires and it works like a dream.. sound quality is great..if not better!

I had a very similar problem, and eventually no sound at all. I finally got to look at it, and the amp came unplugged. Don't know how or why, but I plugged it back in , and never had another problem. Maybe your amp wires are loose.

either that or a ground wire came loose. there is one in the engine. if not your amp might have fried or the wires to factory amp came loose. my buddy has a 2000 Eclipse GT and it had similar trouble

BATTERY. get a new battery. the starter is clicking because it doesn't have enough power from the battery to turn the engine over on a compression stroke but after it get by the compression stroke will start turning over cause a starter requires less power the faster its turning
