I am trying to get my 3 1/2 month old puppy used to going for rides in the car, every time we go, she ends up?
getting sick in the car, will she always have this problem, or do they grow out of this problem ? I have a car seat for her to sit and or lay in, she seems to like it, she can see out the window, so she is not running around in the car

refrain from feeding your dog before a ride ...
my pitt gets VERY uneasy in a car..she doesn't like that she can't grasp the seat..she usually stands the whole ride ... my rott drools incesantly, but he's getting better!!!!
as long as you drive a lot with them (even for short rides) they'll get more used to it...
my sister's show dogs USED to be uneasy, but since she travels to training & shows atleast every weekend, they are perfectly happy in the car!

*I had a beagle that every time he was in the car he got sick. There are just dogs that are proned to getting sick. Some get over it, some don't. Some only ride in the car to the vets office so they become fear full of car rides. I think it best to take them for rides that they can get out of the car and go into the store with you like Petsmart, or a park. Do this and get them associated with fun and car. It is just a puppy. Try having someone else drive and you hold the puppy until she gets used to the car rides.

I had this same problem when my dog was young, when she got older (6 months), the car sickness stopped. She would ride but shook with fear the entire time. Then we had to evacuate for a hurricane and ended up being in the car for over 12 hours. That 12 hour ride cured whatever about riding in a car scared her. Now she is eager to get in the car, whenever she sees me pick up the seat belt clip for her harness, she races to the car. I think her stomach and equilibrium just had to mature enough, that she enjoyed riding.

Do you feed her before you travel? Sometimes dogs with sensitive stomachs have problems with car travel on a full stomach and vomit because of the movement of the car.
Depends on the dog, some dogs grow out of it, some dogs continue it
Try just 5mintues down the road on an empty stomach and build up to longer distance. Also you maybe able to pick up car sickness tablets at the vets.

You have a car seat for her? You can buy her a big Dog carrier and when you drive your with her make sure your windows are not all the way down. The more you take her with you the more she'll get used to being in the car and wont get car sick.

Some dogs do grow out of it, other's don't. Keep taking her for short drives, not too many turns. Hope for your sake she will get used to it.

there are quite a few dogs that get sick from riding in cars, and they usually don't grow out of it. talk to your vet and ask him if there is any medications that you could give you dog so that it won't get sick.
