Why does everyone gripe about immigrants?

I agree with you 100%. Too many Americans keep whining about illegal immigrants but the fact is that either them or their ancestors were immigrants at some point in time.

How much do you pay in income tax? Some of us pay 40% of a hard-earned salary after going to college for 6 years and struggling to get our heads above water, and we see it go to illegals as welfare, public housing, public education, and utility subsidies. How many kids do you have in grammar schools that are U.S. tax-payer funded, but teach to an ESL level because the over-crowded classrooms are half illegal children? What level of education do you think most illegals have? The majority don't even finish HS, so they are a ground swell of uneducated, unskilled, welfare-in-waiting recipients. How many such people do you think the middle-class in the U.S. can sustain before the whole lifeboat goes under? People like you who claim that our borders should be open to anyone wanting an opportunity cannot see beyond the end of their noses. How much pollution do one billion people create? How crowded are the freeways and cities? How many kids are there per classroom? How much strain can our power grids sustain? Why don't we invite over all of Africa and the war-torn Eastern European population? Your argument is very naive and not very well thought out. Do you support some of these illegal families that you so freely invite over? At some point the U.S. needs to close the floodgate of immigrants or the whole country will go under. That date was about 5 years ago. We simply cannot continue to sustain a massive growth in the impoverished without all being pulled down to a third-world level in every respect.

Maybe immigration is at an all time low (I very much doubt that) because *illegal* immigration is at an all time high. The "undocumented" population has doubled over the past 15 years. Native Indian American? Well actually, there is no such thing as a "Native American" since humans are not native to the Americas. The only place where people are truly natives is Africa, where the human race first evolved. American Indians are descended from people who emigrated to the Americas via a land bridge between Siberia and Alaska thousands of years ago during the Ice Age. So you, Native Indian American, are no more American nor have any more claim (other than being here first) to this land than anyone else. However, your Native American ancestors were conquered by my American ancestors of European descent. So by the rules of conquest, this land now belongs to me and my people, not yours.

A very good point. I'm not sure that talk of legal and illegal immigrants helps. The first invaders were illegal immigrants so it's difficult to see how much of what followed is "legal." I am not all that sure that talk of immigrants sponging helps either. The first immigrants and many others after them became rich through exploiting people and resources through force of arms or manipulation, which is not that much more different from this so called sponging today.
