your cpu is a old socket 478 .. you should upgrade to a cheap X2 AMD system about 150.00-200 will get you a chip a sli motherboard and 4gb of memory of DDR2

    X2 7750 66.00

ASUS SLI Motherboard 84.00 <-- future upgradability to Phenom II 940 and Dual Video Cards

    4 GB's DDR2 PC6400 40.00

Upgrading your motherboard would be a good idea but it could cost more than 150 dollars. Typically when you upgrade a mobo, your old cpu is not supported nor the ram nor mostly anything. You would pretty much be buying a new computer.

I noticed you didn't put down your operating system which is kind of a shame. Vista requires 1 gig of ram just to run itself. I'm pretty sure Sims 2 also requires 1 gig so you'd be lagging just from taxing your ram ( puts you at -.5 GB). If you're running XP, the basic requirements are 512 megs ram but still running sims 2 would be 1.5 GB of ram and you'd be at your taxed amount.

Before upgrading your entire computer (which would help but its costly), I suggest expanding your ram to its max capacity (probably 2 gigs), saving all your needed data to an external harddrive and then formatting the computer. A format will get rid of all the extra programs that run in the background and tax your computer without you even knowing it.

It's a decent idea to format every year or so because of those background programs. My suggestion should allow you to run sims 2 at least.

Your computer needs a format or tune up your drives so that all the free spaces can b adjusted properly. I ll say u must De-fragment your hard drives so as to replace the free spaces and put your files in order. Hope this might work for u.

thats a rather good graphics card strange why its so slow i would goto

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srte... choose crysis from the list, since i know that game does require some major graphical processing power.

since you could possible have to many applications running in the background, also could possible be a hardware issue with your RAM, PSU, but only way to test this is with diffrerent ram and psu.
