Yes & No.
Caffeine can slightly suppress your appetite, but just drinking it will not necessarily cause weight loss. One 8 oz cup of brewed coffee only has 2 calories, but many people drink stuff like Starbucks, which has drinks that have tons of calories. It is better for your diet than these drinks or sodas (also has tons of empty calories).
Coffee can also dehydrate you (temporary weight loss), so you should drink water after.
As far as anyone saying it causes weight gain, that's only if you drink Starbucks or bad coffee (which needs lots of milk/cream and sugar). I used to be fat. I lost the weight & then I discovered good coffee & I haven't gained the weight back in 7 years.

I've never heard of caffeine increasing blood sugar. Ever. It's not a sugar or a sugar alcohol or a processed starch (carb). But if you're getting it through non-diet pop or sugar added coffee and tea, then that's true.
They say coffee at least will some what help weight loss. This has been in recent news. It's an anti-oxidant which is very good for you health wise overall. The caffeine is supposed to give you extra energy and small boost to your metabolism. But you can't add lots of sugar, and you can't overdo the caffeine (because it's a stimulant, too much is bad for your heart). Even then, don't expect it to help too much. If it worked really well, my mom would be a size 2. LOL

I found out that if you have a cup of coffee before you go to the gym or do some kind of workout it does. Why? Because it accelerates your metabolism somehow. It has to do with the caffeine. Just don't drink too much because of the accelerated heart rate factor.
This what I found out for you on-line:
Watch your Fat Content
Now, there is NO fat in coffee or tea, so you can drink either one to your heart's content. But you can rack up some serious calories and fat if you don't watch what you put into your cup. If you enjoy a dollop of cream, you may be surprised just how much fat you're adding.
Fat Content in Milk and Cream
If you are watching your weight, you might be curious to know just how much fat is in the various forms of milk and cream. Coffee or tea themselves have no fat.
Whole milk (1 cup) 8g
2% milk (1 cup) 5g
1% milk (1 cup) 2.5g
Skim milk (1 cup) .5g
Condensed milk (1/3 cup) 9g
Half 'n half (1 tbs) 1.5g
Heavy cream (1 tbs) 3g
Light cream (1 tbs) 2.5g
Drink Lots of Water
It can be tough to drink all those glasses of water that nutritionists say we should, especially when you'd rather be noshing on some fudge ice-cream. Filtering your water can really improve the taste, and even makes it better for you by removing the chlorine. Portable filter bottles can help you bring filtered water with you.
Caffeine as an Appetite Suppressant
Caffeine can help to dampen down your appetite, at least mildly. Of course, caffeine does have some other side effects you should keep in mind before you start guzzling coffee to help your weight loss. My wife often has a cup of coffee mid-afternoon to help quell her munchies. The little energy boost might help you stay active a little while longer too.
Overall, a nice cup of tea or coffee can help you get over any snack cravings. Green or herbal teas are a great choice because of the extra health benefits.

No. In large amounts it is very dangerous for you. Bad on your heart and your brain. It is a depressant. If you need to lose weight go to a weight loss center. Talk to a counselor and a doctor. Lipotrophic shots help. Gives you a boost and blocks fat.

Well here is an opposing view.
Yes caffeine can aid in weight loss.
Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. As such your body metabolism increases and appetite is somewhat suppressed.
The liquid assists in filling your stomach therefore reducing ones hunger.
It's not the best weight loss product...but it can assist with a good diet and exercise like any other diet!
